創作背景

1964年，Paul Simon移居歐洲後，開始在巴黎和英國倫敦各種民間俱爾部中演出。返回紐約後，他與CBS的唱片公司簽約，製作人為Tom Wilson，並且重新與他的老搭檔Garfunkel合作。他們在1964年錄制的專輯《Wednesday Morning》，其中包括歌曲《The Sound Of Silence》的銷量不是很好，使得Simon返回倫敦。
