《生化危機:劫後餘生》在澳大利亞拍攝，本片根據《生化危機》第一部的導演Paul W.S. Anderson的劇本拍攝。此前Anderson也曾拍攝了《真人快打》、《異形對鐵血戰士》等與游戲息息相關的電影。本片的女主角Alice依然是Anderson的妻子兼名模Milla Jovovich主演，劇情上本片將會延續第一部的故事。講述Alice逃出安布雷拉公司的實驗室之後，整個城市已經淪為廢墟，如今她將會在美國西南部沙漠地帶碰到更多的喪屍。

《Hollywood Reporter》的報道中最令人意外的是《生化危機》第四部電影的消息，第三部剛剛開鏡，第四部就已經投拍，顯然CAPCOM和片商們准備將《生化危機》的剩餘價值全部榨幹才會甘心。第四集《生化危機》由德國Constantin Film AG公司拍攝，本片將會以東京為背景，不過目前還沒有進一步消息。
